Submarine Cable Failure on Martha’s Vineyard

Joseph Coupal - Monday, August 22, 2011

When the Martha’s Vineyard utility company experienced an underwater cable failure to the island they called on EPS.

Both the high summer power demand and President Obama’s upcoming visit to the Vineyard contributed to the decision to use temporary power on the island.

EPS quickly dispatched 4 MW’s of power and 2 x High voltage transformers to the island. EPS’s engineers handled all logistics for the project including teaming up with a local barge company to get all equipment and personnel over to the island.

If the utility experiences another failure or the power demand becomes excessive the generators can be remotely put on line within minutes. Repairs are expected to take 1-2 months.

The Cost of Portable Emergency Power Supply Rental Depends on Several Factors

Joseph Coupal - Thursday, August 18, 2011

We don’t often give electricity much thought until we don’t have it. In these situations, especially in business, consider Emergency Power Supply System (EPSS) rentals.

When commercial electricity is unavailable, when commercial electricity is difficult to supply, and when an emergency generator is offline ElecComm Power is the EPSS supplier in New England and New York.
Companies and organizations that need emergency power supply services need to consider generator rentals.

When comparing generator rental prices, be sure you are comparing apples to apples. The cost includes: the type of fuel, pickup or delivery, the length of the contract, the voltage, and any special features. Keep in mind that a unit that uses natural gas, or a natural gas and diesel mixture, instead of pure diesel will be more economical. When the equipment is needed long-term your best option is a lease agreement instead of a rental contract.

Keep in mind too that the size or type of the unit you need is entirely dependant on your voltage requirements. A unit that is too small can result in power failure or unsafe situations; a unit that is too large is just a waste of money. Be sure to consult with ElecComm Power when considering your generator needs.

Rental Generators for Emergency Power Failure

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Well, hurricane season has officially started. Now we don’t often see hurricanes that are too bad in Massachusetts, but we don’t often see massive, destructive tornadoes either, or hail storms in June.  So to kick off hurricane season, we would like to remind you to not get caught unprepared in the event of an unexpected power loss.

When a major storm knocks your power out, emergency generators will keep you up and running and your lights on.

Last week in Greenwich, CT customers were left powerless from a series of CL&P system failures which began with a lightning strike last Wednesday. Repairs were waylaid by two more lightning strikes at the Cos Cob substation on Thursday night and increased demand in the suffocating early summer heat and humidity Friday evening caused further system failures.

During the height of the outages, the town used emergency generators to operate its sewage treatment plants and private customers, including Greenwich Hospital, switched to rented generators. According to Greenwich Hospital spokesman George Pawlush, the hospital used two rental generators for nearly 21 hours between Thursday and Saturday.

Portable rental generators can help you and your business continue to do business even with unexpected power failure. Often time, loss of power is catastrophic for a business, hospital, or municipal building. Call ElecComm for more information.

Generator Rental Tips

Generators are widely used both in homes and industrial places. There are two basic types which are the portable and standby generators. There are affordable generators but the fact is, some people can’t afford generators and they find the maintenance of such equipment to be quite expensive. The only alternative available to them is generator rental.

You can find a lot of generator rentals online. The resources are unlimited and you can take advantage of it by conducting a thorough research. Generators for rent include the following: - portable generator rental - ozone generator rental - diesel generator rental - electric generator rental - emergency generator rental - industrial generator rental.

Generators are needed nowadays because power failures occur unexpectedly. If you don’t want to be caught by surprise, you should have a generator within easy reach. If you know the companies that offer generator rentals, it will be easier to simply contact them when the need arises.

For instance, you have a certain occasion coming up and you need electrical supply. You can rent a generator at a specific date and then pay for them in an hourly or daily basis. Construction sites usually make use of portable generators for lighting and running certain appliances like personal fridge, televisions, furnaces, and sump pumps.

Renting is a good option because you can have the generators as long as you stay on the construction site. After the work is through, you don’t have to worry about the maintenance of the generator. For home use, you can rent natural gas, diesel, or gasoline generators. Aside from that, you can also rent ozone generators, electrical generators, and industrial generators.

ElecComm Power Services offers rental services will make sure that they provide their clients with excellent service and with the appropriate generator. Since the output capacity of generators vary, it is very important to determine the electrical requirements.

As mentioned above, you need to determine the power requirement of your household or your establishment. If you don’t know how to do this, ask someone to determine the electrical requirements. Some companies who offer generator rental services also extend help when it comes to determining the electrical requirements with an added fee. They have experienced professionals who can be of great help to their clients.

Another good thing about these companies is that they have excellent customer service. Feel free to call them whenever you need to rent a generator. Power generator rentals is widespread especially in prosperous countries. Some households as well as other establishments like offices find a generator rental much more affordable. If you want to find out more about the generator rental rates, you simply have to log online. Make use of the internet’s power to gather more information about how and why rent a generator

You can also check if there are local companies that offer generator rentals. If you need a portable generator for your household, it will be easier to rent locally. You must remember that the rental rates vary depending on the generator’s output capacity. Some companies charge hourly rates while and if you need to rent the generator longer, they can compute the rates on a daily or weekly basis. Gather the information you need so that you can immediately rent a generator in case of a power failure. Get their contact numbers so that you can easily call them.

Generator Rental - What to Know Before You Rent a Generator

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Commercial Generator Rental

The Basic Question, Generator, What Is It?

A device that uses mechanical energy as a source to generate electrical energy is known as a generator. So when there isn't a permanent arrangement of a source of electricity a rented generator from a Generator Rental can be of great help.

Can A Rented Generator Be Helpful?

A rented generator can prove to be very useful in various situations like lighting up a grand movie set in a far away location or arranging a party at a farmhouse in a town that has electricity for just 2 hours per day. It can also help if you are the wedding planner who needs to make a theme come alive in far away woods where there is no availability of electricity or if you are a hospital, an ice cream parlor, an organization or an IT firm where an electrical downtime of some minutes of can lead to big losses.

The above are just a few situations but believe me the main advantage of renting from a emergency Generator rental rather than buying one is its cost- effectiveness.

Deciding On The Right Size Of Generator?

Generators available are in the range of 125-150KW to the higher range of 2-4MW. Which to choose depends on items that will be used, that is, which appliances will be put to use? Would only essential items like lights, fans, refrigerators, computer, TV be used or heavy items like Air Conditioners and Room heaters will also be used. The apt size for a generator is of great importance as a small generator may put extra load on the appliances which can ruin them. If you aren't able to really decide the size ask the rental agency and they will advise you on the correct size. The Procedure To Rent A Generator? A generator rental agency would be of help as they have now opened in abundance in the last couple of years in a large number of cities. Researching on rental stores in the city won't hurt either. When renting, choose a store preferably closer home.

Some Information That Might Help In Renting A Generator.

Ensure that the agency delivers the generator wherever required with an experienced electrician who can install and uninstall it when the job's done. Since a generator functions on fuel keep it outdoors instead of keeping it indoors from safety point of view. Do keep in mind that if you have a populated neighborhood choose something that's make less noise.

Environment Friendly Generators Are Available In The Market

In the age of Go-Green, Go-Clean this question isn't a surprise. Clean generators like Wind and Solar are making their way in the market and will rule the markets very soon. Always remember, a rented generator is better since Generator Rentals ensure that it is well-maintained but if you happen to buy one the onus of maintenance is totally upon you.

Having electricity in a time of crisis can be a life saver. Generator rental when you know a storm is brewing could be the most important decision you ever make. Think about all the things you need a power source for, can you really survive without them?

Popular Businesses that Benefit from Emergency Power Supply

Joseph Coupal - Wednesday, January 26, 2011

No one is ever ready for a power outage or a short circuit, but being prepared is the best solution. Such as having a contingency plan or back up plan. When these outages occur Eleccomm Power Services is there to serve your business at anytime. We understand that power is vital to keeping a business running smoothly, not only for the company but also if the company provides support to others. Here is a list of important entities that should always have emergency back up power.

  • Hospitals and Outpatient Surgery Clinics
  • Hospitals and outpatient surgery clinics are an obvious choice for emergency power equipment. Without it, a power outage could cause widespread casualties in emergency care units, critical care units, and during the course of operations. Today's hospitals and outpatient clinics depend on electricity for a majority of their treatments and life preserving techniques, making back up generators an absolute necessity in any hospital or outpatient surgery clinic.

  • Police Departments
  • When the power goes out in a metropolitan area police know to expect more crimes, But if the power goes out in police departments, what would be a difficult situation could turn into catastrophe more than moonlight illuminates the streets. Because most police departments don't have heavy electricity needs, a single industrial scale generator usually supplies enough power to last until the power company addresses an outage.

  • Retail Stores
  • Most retail stores simply close their doors until a power outage is resolved. But if they have a back up generator, they can conduct business while their competition literally remains in the dark.

  • Data Centers
  • Data centers are another obvious choice as their very function depends heavily on uninterrupted power supply. Most data centers are well equipped with generators, protecting information that could cause companies and individuals alike severe difficulty if it were lost.

  • Laboratories
  • Depending on the nature of their work, laboratories often need uninterrupted power supply to ensure that projects occur as planned. From animal and plant studies to situations where pharmaceuticals are being produced, most laboratories can't afford to do without a steady supply of electricity.

  • Prisons and Jails
  • Keeping prisons and jails supplied with electricity isn't a matter of keeping inmates' cells and recreation areas lit; it's a matter of keeping inmates incarcerated. Today, most prisons and jails use security systems that are at least partially powered by electricity, using powerful magnetic locks to secure cells and various points of passage.

Providing emergency power supply to these businesses is what Eleccomm is all about. Our certified, safety-trained technicians provide fast, reliable service with our state-of-the-art, EPA certified fleet of equipment. Contact us today to learn more information about back up generators and other products we have to offer.

ElecComm Power Services Offers Many Other Options

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, January 11, 2011

We rent emergency generators for numerous reasons, with resolving emergency power outages, supplying power during a planned project that will compromise commercial power, and meeting a temporary rise in energy demand being the most common. ElecComm Power Services supply them on a singular or a group basis, with the latter being common for regional power outages and outages in large facilities. In addition to renting generator equipment, we rent other electrical equipment as well, such as load banks, electrical distribution units, fuel tanks, and various power accessories.

Load banks are typically used to test power sources to ensure their proper function under the real life conditions that load banks simulate by creating a power load and applying it to a power source.

Distribution units
serve as power distribution hubs within an electrical network. Common examples of rented distribution equipment are: transformers that feature rugged, all weather construction and are available in low voltage and high voltage design; portable, all weather electrical panels that facilitate loads as low as 100 amps and loads as high as 2,000 amps; and condensed switchboards that facilitate loads as high as 3,000 amps.

If you need generators for longer than 48 hours, you may need to rent additional fuel tanks to power them. The tanks come in 500 gallon and 1000 gallon, with the latter being optimal for construction sites.

When renting major power equipment it is best to rent the accessories you would need for the specific product. Such as power cables with a distribution panel or even a fuel tank if you're going to be using a generator for long periods of time. We have many other products available for rental to our commercial clients. Feel free to browse our selection and let us be you one-stop solution for all your power needs.
